Cobalt steel makes the drill more durable than Black & Gold.  Due to the hardness being uniform, Cobalt drills can be repeatedly sharpened without damaging the cutting edge allowing it to cut more than HSS drills. Great for linear cutting of hard materials such as stainless steel.
